For many people, the cold days of winter can bring an uncomfortable dryness and tightness to our skin. There are generally two reasons this occurs: the lack of humidity in the air and our need to crank the heat during the winter months. While there’s not much you can do to prevent this from happening (after all, we need heat – especially this week!), there are plenty of ways to care for your skin and keep it hydrated all winter long.

The key is understanding that not all products are right for your skin all year. As the weather changes, so should our skincare regimens. A product that works well for you in the summer months may not be giving you what you need in the winter.

For example, you should be moisturizing more in the winter, perhaps switching from a water-based product to one that's oil based (keeping in mind that not all oils are appropriate for the face). Look for ingredients that attract moisture and bind it to the skin, such as hyaluronic, one of nature's best moisturizers and an amazing way to give your skin a drink of water.
